A leading European manufacturer of chocolate machinery approached iCenta with a challenging flow cooling application of chocolate moulds, without interacting with the product itself.

Using the Metri LPM Flow MeterThe Metri Measurements LPM flow was supplied to monitor part of the Chocolate tooling process maintaining a constant flow rate of 100 l/min at temperatures as low as-30 deg C. The process of the liquid chocolate entering and leaving the machine takes just a few minutes prior to passing to the final stages of production, therefore correct cooling is critical.
Normally, at lower temperatures, Glycol would be the preferred choice to stop the fluid freezing. However, due to the increased viscosity of Glycol at -25 deg C in this application and the intricacy of the chocolate tooling mould process, a potassium-based fluid was selected which has a viscosity closer to water. The Metri Paddlewheel incorporated both pulsed and 4-20mA outputs to interface with the operator HMI providing visible coolant flowrates, allowing the 100l/min flow rate to be accurately monitored. |
