Water and Wastewater Sectors
Global predictions state the water and wastewater industry could reach as much as USD 674.72 billion by 2025*. This growth is largely driven by the rising demand for freshwater for drinking, industrialisation and agriculture.
Freshwater is only part of the story.
What happens to wastewater has become increasingly important as we address the environmental impact of industrial and domestic usage worldwide. From an industrial perspective measures are being put in place to monitor the chemicals used in agriculture to produce crops, how those crops are processed in the food industry and the subsequent cleaning of equipment to maintain hygiene levels. The impact of those chemicals entering the water cycle and the effects they have on the health of the population.
The way in which wastewater is handled globally differs from country to country and as a result solutions need to be tailored accordingly. For example in the UK a growing trend of ‘flushable wipes’ has seen an increase in the number of ‘fatbergs’ in the countries sewer system. These fatbergs block sewers and can cause major disruption and problems to public health.
The result is that the water and wastewater industries are set to continue their growth to manage the multitude of issues which will include legislative change, product innovations and new packaged product solutions will be launched.
With water being such a valuable commodity vital to every aspect of our lives, health and general well being, it’s no surprise that this industry is so huge.
